2026 Athletic HOF: Abby Galbreath, Kettering Fairmont High School Class of 2010

Abby Galbreath was a 2010 graduate of Fairmont High School.  She earned 4 letters on the swim and dive team and was a team captain her senior year.  She still holds the 200 meter Individual Medley (200 IM) school record (2:02.64).  Abby was the 2010 State Champion in that same event.

Abby earned 24 total Greater Western Ohio Conference medals.  She was a five-time Central Division GWOC champion and was selected as first team all-Central GWOC.  Abby was twice selected as a first team all-GWOC member.  In 2010, Abby was the league champion in the 50 Free (50 meter Freestyle) and 200 IM.  She was crowned as the GWOC Swimmer of the Year in 2009 and 2010.   She qualified in 15 events at the Southwest District meet and was a four-time Sectional Meet champion.

Abby qualified for and placed in the Ohio State Meet all four of the years she attended Fairmont High School.  In 2007 and 2008 she placed fifth in the 200 IM.  During her junior year, she placed fourth in the 50 Free and was the State runner-up in the 200 IM.  Her senior year she was one of the favorites in the 200 IM, but her preliminary race didn’t go as planned.  She qualified for the finals, but was in an outer lane as a lower seed.  Abby ended up winning the race and becoming the 200 IM State Champion.

At Fairmont, Abby won the Most Improved award her freshman year.  During her sophomore, junior and senior seasons she won the Most Valuable award.  She was a scholar athlete her junior and senior years and was a Rae Burick nominee her senior year.  Abby continued her swimming career at the University of South Carolina.

Abby’s coaches loved her work ethic, integrity, and positive attitude in and out of the pool.  She taught her coaches and teammates the true meaning of being a champion.  Her love of her teammates and school were always present.  Abby is a true Firebird and a fantastic addition to the Fairmont High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
