Megan Kelsey Bernard (2007) Bowling Green (2011) & The Ohio State University (2013)

Fairmont Memories-Some of Megan's fondest Fairmont memories are of traveling to Saturday morning cross country meets, racing, and having fun with her sister Andrea (2009) and teammates. She is grateful to Mr. Steve Hippenmeyer who was, "easily the biggest influence during my time at KFHS. He saw my potential as a student athlete and worked tirelessly to help me get a scholarship to run track and cross country at BGSU." Megan was also on the swim team, served as a member of the United Student Body and was valedictorian of her class.

Bernard's advice to recent grads: "Good communication, honesty and humility will take you further in any career path than just raw talent."

Family & Hobbies-Megan is a mother of three living abroad in London where she helps run moms' support groups. Megan enjoys cooking, planning family travel, and running (usually with a kid and stroller these days). Megan has run four marathons and one ultra-marathon.After earning her Master's in Nutrition and Dietetics, Megan chose to stay home with her young children (who are 5, 3, and 7 months) when their family moved abroad. "It's been a fun challenge to use my skills and knowledge to serve my family and community even though I don't have a professional job," said Megan. She reminds fellow Fairmont alumni, "Don't be afraid to think differently about putting your skills and talent to use in a different way than you may have originally intended!" Growing up in Kettering, Megan developed a lifelong love of learning and built lasting relationships with peers, staff, and the community. These connections are why Megan is dedicated to the continued success of the Kettering City Schools.
