
Natalie Uy’s athletic career has been marked by an impressive combination of dedication, talent, and leadership as a distinguished track and field athlete and a celebrated member of the Kettering Fairmont High School community. Known for her remarkable versatility and exceptional accomplishments across multiple events, her career spans high school, college, and professional levels. Natalie became a four-time letterwinner in track and field and a two-time letterwinner in volleyball, and then moving on to national and even global competition.
In her freshman year (2009-2010), Natalie quickly made her mark in track and field, winning the District Championships in the high jump, claiming tiles in GWOC Central Championship in high jump and long jump. She also defeated a two-time district champion and state qualifier, signaling her potential.
Natalie continued to dominate in her sophomore (2010-2011) and junior (2011-2012) years. She repeated as District Champion in the high jump and won District titles in the high jump, long jump, and 100-meter hurdles. She was named GWOC Field Athlete of the Year in her junior year. At the state level, Uy qualified for the state meet in both high jump and long jump, showcasing her ability to perform at the highest level.
Senior year (2012-2013) marked the peak of Natalie’s high school career. Natalie was named GWOC Field Athlete of the Year for the second time. She claimed District titles in the long jump, pole vault, and high jump. She became the Regional Champion in the pole vault. Uy notably became the first athlete in Fairmont history to qualify for the State meet in all four events. At State, Natalie earned a 2nd place finish in pole vault, 4th place in high jump, and 12th place in the 100-meter hurdles at the State championships. She set school records in the pole vault (12'6") and long jump (18'2.5").
In 2013, Natalie earned a full track and field scholarship to Eastern Michigan University, where she continued to excel. She was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Scholar Athlete of the Week as a freshman. In 2016, she helped her team win a MAC Championship and finished as the runner-up in pole vault. She also qualified for the NCAA Division I East Regionals.
Natalie’s professional career is equally impressive. She became a Philippine National Record Holder in pole vault and a two-time Philippine National Champion (2019, 2023). She set regional records, including the Southeast Asian Record and the Southeast Asian Games Record. At the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, she won a gold medal in pole vault. Her international career continued to thrive with medals at events like the Singapore Open (2022), the Asian Championships (2019), and the USATF Road to Gold Series.
Natalie resides in Athens, Georgia with her husband Samuel Rego. Both enjoy travelling, hiking, and trying new foods! Presently, Natalie is purusing a Master in Business Administration at the University of Georgia.
